Your vet quoted $4,200.
Was it fair?
Nobody can answer that today — because nobody publishes what pet owners actually paid. PaidWhat is fixing that: real vet bills, redacted and averaged, by procedure, animal, and city. No estimates. No insurance-company ranges.
Free forever. Email us a photo of your bill — it takes a minute, and your name never appears anywhere.
How it works
Three steps. The whole thing takes less time than finding parking at the vet.
You email your bill
Paid invoice, estimate, or quote — snap a photo, attach it to an email, hit send. No account, no app.
We read & redact
Line items become structured numbers; personal details are removed; the original photo is deleted. What remains is anonymous.
Everyone sees real actuals
Median, typical range, and sample size — by procedure, animal, and city. Never tied to a clinic or a person.
The dataset is empty — and that's on purpose.
We're just launching, so there are no actuals to show you yet. Every number that ever appears here will come from a real bill somebody emailed in, or it won't appear at all. No estimates dressed up as data. No "typical ranges" pretending to be your city.
If you've paid a vet bill in the last year, yours could be among the first data points for your city. Email us your bill — early bills are the dataset, and we'd rather say it plainly than fake it.
Guides worth reading before your next visit
Written from published sources, labeled honestly. No crowdsourced numbers yet — and we say so wherever it matters.
How to read your vet bill
What each line item actually means — exam fees, bloodwork, anesthesia — and the questions that can save you real money.
Why vet prices vary so much
Emergency vs. daytime, big city vs. small town, corporate vs. independent — why the same procedure has three different prices.
Is pet insurance worth it?
The actual math: premiums, deductibles, and when one big emergency makes the whole policy pay for itself.
